12 – 14 MAY, BIRMINGHAM DEADLINE FOR ENTRIES: 28 APRIL Amateur MMA competitors are invited to take part in the BAMMA – UKMMAF National Amateur MMA Championships at BodyPower Expo UK 2017 in Birmingham NEC, 12 – 14 May. The Championships serve as try-outs for the UK Amateur MMA squad, with opportunities to compete in International Mixed Martial Arts Federation events including the 2016 IMMAF World Championships in Bahrain in November, the 2016 Africa Open Championships in South Africa in August and next year’s IMMAF European Open. IMMAF events are broadcast on BT Sport and Extreme Sports Channel in Europe. The tournament equally puts aspiring talent in front of BAMMA decision makers and UKMMAF athlete sponsors. All matches are held under IMMAF Amateur MMA Rules (3 x 3 minutes), with shin guards. IMMAF President Kerrith Brown said: “National Championships are the proving ground for Amateurs wanting to compete at IMMAF World and Continental Championship events worldwide. When they turn pro, IMMAF champions are quickly getting snapped up by leading professional promotions worldwide including renowned UFC feeder shows. I strongly recommend that ambitious MMA competitors sign up to the UKMMAF nationals, as a tried and tested pathway to accelerating their MMA career and gaining unrivalled competition experience.” BAMMA VP of Talent Relations, Jude Samuel, said: “As a matchmaker, I most rate competitors who are willing to test their skills in UKMMAF and IMMAF tournaments. These are fighters who are willing to test themselves against anybody and who will have the best experience behind them when they turn Pro. I keep a close watch on new Amateur talent coming up through ranks when I’m scouting for future BAMMA stars. Any Amateurs hoping to fight on BAMMA in the future, don’t miss out on this opportunity to get spotted.” Sign Up Contact: [email protected]Entry Criteria and Information Please go to: http://www.ukmmaf.org.uk/2017-uk-national-amateur-mma-championships-eligibility-criteria/Cost of Entry 1.
