Federation: All India Mixed Martial Arts Association Number of competitors: 3 Team India attended the 2015 IMMAF World Championships of Amateur MMA but were unable to acquire any decoration for their hard work at their first IMMAF outing. Five competitors represented Team India at last year’s Championships, but with the sport becoming more legitimate, this year the All India Mixed Martial Arts Association (AIMMAA) will submit three members to compete for their country at UFC International Fight Week™. The AIMMAA have had a massive influence over MMA’s increased horizons in India, with AIMMAA fighters and officials involved in: 2016 BodyPower India Open MMA Championships, Bangalore Open MMA Championships, Super Fight Championships Delhi and UnderDoggs MMA Delhi. It’s the ever expanding list of promotions and Championships which are a testament to how AIMMAA – under National Commissioner and Founder Daniel Isaac – have helped pave the way for MMA hopefuls in India. The growing opportunity for India’s Amateur standouts has been reflected in the generous sponsorship from Sony ESPN, the exclusive broadcaster of the UFC in India, who funded Indian athletes for this year’s #2016IMMAFWorlds. At the #2016IMMAFWorlds the India National Team will hope to reward their fantastic grassroots development with some IMMAF winning medals.
