Team Portugal will be looking to change its fate during UFC International Fight Week™, with its experienced athletes bolstered by fresh talent in its quest for Gold. One of Portugal’s star athletes to represent CAPMMA in Las Vegas is 27-year- old Paulo Covas (3-0). With 13 years spent as a martial arts practitioner, including in Ninjitsu and Ruy San Ryu, and competing in MMA since 2008; Featherweight Covas is not only one of the most battle-tested fighters on the Portuguese roster, but also one of the most experienced martial artists in the entire championships. CAPMMA also has two returners among its European squad, with Filipe Catanho and Milton Mateus making the trip to compete at the 2016 IMMAF World Championships of Amateur MMA. Catanho is a member of an elite group of IMMAF competitors that has competed in both the 2014 and 2015 IMMAF Worlds, and last year’s European Open. He will be making #HistoryAgain by becoming the first participant to compete in three straight World Championships.
