“The sport of MMA can be very taxing on the physical health of the MMA athletes and injuries are a common occurrence. This workshop seeks to introduce the common MMA injuries sustained during training and competition, and to substantiate medical care and knowledge to ensure the MMA participants including coaches and trainers are well aware of all health risks in their chosen sport.” Admission to the Medical MMA Workshop is FREE, but seating is limited. The speakers will touch on the basic fundamentals such as understanding common MMA injuries, how to prevent these injuries from occurring and the types of non-invasive medical treatment available. “MMA athletes, casual fans and trainers are strongly encouraged to attend this workshop as this is the continuing MMA education programme initiated by the Malaysia Mixed Martial Arts Association in affiliation to the world sanctioning body, the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) based in Stockholm, Sweden.” About the Presenters Dr Muhammad Rahmani Jaffar is a sports doctor attached with the Department of Sports Medicine, University of Malaya Medical Center who has vast experience in treating sports injuries, traumatic injuries and medical care and treatment having worked with multiple international and local MMA promotions. He has conducted various workshops involving his specialty in both corporate and government sectors. His qualifications include being a Credentialed Medical Officer in Sports Medicine(UM Medical Centre), and holding a Master of Sports Medicine (University of Malaya). Dr Ivan Sin is a certified chiropractor from International Medical University and is practicing from a reputable chiropractic clinic based in Bangsar. He utilizes his medical background in chiropractic care to treat established athletes including Gianni Subba, Keanu Subba, Ali Motamed, Saiful Merican (MMA) and Delia Arnold (squash).
