Luxembourg and Bahamas MMA Federations Join IMMAF

Fédération Luxembourgeoise de MMA (FLMMA) Born out of the earlier organisation “Project Streetsport”, the non-profit, democratically structured Fédération Luxembourgeoise de MMA was created as an association specifically dedicated to MMA. The legal statutes were officially submitted to the RCS (trade and companies register) in November 2015. Although MMA is not yet formally recognised in the country, its practice is permitted and the City of Luxembourg, with the support of the Ministries of Family and Education, financially support the sport through the Streetsport project. There are two MMA clubs in Luxembourg that have a good relationship with each other. Of those, the Streetsport Project is the largest and oldest – founded in 2004. He group has held competitions and selections over the last 10 years and has sent national representation to compete and medal in European and World championship events organised by FILA, as well as events organised by neighbouring IMMAF affiliate, the Belgium Mixed Martial Arts Federation The FLMMA is headed by Miomir Vujovic, who is credited with a number of international combats sports matches in kick boxing and MMA (Germany, Belgium, France and Luxembourg) and who works a s social educator. Empire Mixed Martial Arts Bahamas Empire Mixed Martial Arts with its Beast Mode Fight Team has been in existence for three years and has represented the Bahamas at various competitions in Chinese Sanda and MMA, both nationally and abroad. The organisation is registered with the Bahamas Ministry of Sports and is a member of both the Bahamas Wushu Sanda Association and the Bahamas Martial Arts Federation. Empire MMA has the only MMA gym and competitors in the Bahamas. It has represented the country internationally at multiple MMA and full contact martial arts events since 2010. It has also held national amateur and professional MMA events under the banner of the Bahamas Open Martial Arts Championship/BOMAC Cage Fights. The group has hosted multiple free MMA clinics for competitors and for judges of local traditional martial arts schools. The EMMAB is led by Dr Kent L. Bazard, whose professional background is in radiology and sports medicine. Bazard assumes the role of Safety Officer of the Bahamas Mixed Martial Arts Association, overseeing MMA rules and regulations, certification of BMMAA officials and sanctioning protocol for both professional and Amateur level competitions.
