Federazione Italiana Grappling Mixed Martial Arts), Italy’s National governing body under IMMAF, the Trials Finale took place as a collaboration with local promotion STORM FC, and welcomed 26 athletes from 16 regional clubs; showcasing the tremendous development of Amateur MMA in Italy following the record breaking 2016 Italian Championships which saw over 280 registered competitors. The Trials Finale marked the second FIGMMA event where competitors’ fight gear was be provided by ADIDAS, the official sponsor of Team Italy. In a night full of spectacular matches, 2015 World Championships Bronze medalist and European Open Silver Medalist, Marco Zannetti, secured his return to Las Vegas where he will represent Italy for a third time under the IMMAF banner. In contrast, 2015 European Open Bronze Medalists Paolo Anastasi and Asterio Lucchesini were defeated in the finals by newcomers Simone Cancelli (205lbs) and Daniele Dell’Otto (185lbs).
