National Federation of MMA Georgia Joins IMMAF

The International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) has officially confirmed the affiliation of the National Federation of Mixed Martial Arts Georgia (NFMMAG).  The NFMMAG was established in 1991 in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, with the aim of promoting youth sports and developing MMA in the region. As the sole federation for MMA in the country and representative of the majority of Georgian MMA clubs, the organisation is formally registered with and recognised by the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs.  The NFMMAG has organised numerous competitions, including national championships and international open events, with invitations hosted to national federations abroad. The federation has also participated in international events hosted by MMA organisations in other countries. The National Federation of MMA Georgia is headed by President Ushangi (Mamuka) Mamulashvili, who is renowned as a former Georgian National Grappling (chidaoba) competitor – a popular sport within the country. IMMAF President, Kerrith Brown, said: “We extend a warm welcome to the National Federation of Mixed Martial Arts Georgia and its members, and anticipate a productive and mutually supportive working relationship with them as they join our global MMA family. I very much look forward to seeing Georgia’s Amateur MMA athletes compete in IMMAF championships in 2016.”]]>
