Marc Goddard. In this episode of #AskGoddard Marc discusses some of the most impressive Amateur MMA competitors that he has witnessed competing at the IMMAF World Championships in Las Vegas, USA, and the European Open in Birmingham, England. Marc also addresses the thought of how long athletes should dedicate themselves to an Amateur MMA career before turning professional. Two-time Team USA veteran Jose Torres stands apart as the world’s most decorated amateur mixed martial artist with a 25-1 record and consecutive gold medals as the IMMAF bantamweight world champion in both 2014 and 2015. Torres has since completed a highly successful transition to professional MMA with standout USA based promotion Titan FC. Northern Ireland’s Leah McCourt burst onto the IMMAF competitive scene last November at the European Open Championships. Showing rounded ability, and with a hip-toss here and there, the Judo Blackbelt and BJJ champion impressed en route to claiming the European Open gold medal at 155lbs. On a weekly basis IMMAF.org will be featuring #AskGoddard with answers to various fan questions relating to his experience and knowledge as an international MMA official.
