Picture: England’s James Duckett on his way to the IMMAF World Championships final. A pair of IMMAF World Championships silver medal winners will make their professional MMA debuts this month. British World Championships and European Open middleweight veteran James Duckett recently announced his professional debut after spending the past month training Muay Thai Thailand. At the 2015 IMMAF World Championships in Las Vegas the promising Englishman dominated the preliminary rounds with a trio of powerful victories. In the final he met with the USA’s Brendan Allen who took home the gold after a rear-naked-choke submission victory. Duckett returned to IMMAF competition in November at the European Open Championships in Walsall, England. After a unanimous decision win in his opening bout against Norway’s Adrian Jahre, he was forced to settle for bronze after losing a unanimous decision to Sweden’s resurging Rostem Akman, the eventual European Open champion. Duckett concludes his Amateur MMA career with a 10-3 record and on February 20th he faces Norwegian veteran Ole Magnor under the banner of ICE FC: International Combat Elite in Liverpool, England. This weekend Finland’s World Championship lightweight runner-up Tuukka Repo will compete on February 13 after a spell on the sidelines. The Sisu Gym product was expected to compete for the first time as a professional last October, however injury forced the silver medal winner to postpone his transition. Repo’s team explained to IMMAF.org that they wished for particular details of the injury to remain undisclosed, and the young Scandinavian will return to action against Spaniard Ernesto Marquez. From July 7th-9th he accumulated consecutive wins on each day before eventually losing a unanimous decision on the judges’ scorecards.
