Jose Torres‘ long awaited professional MMA debut has finally been announced by the fighter as ‘Shorty’ revealed details of the upcoming bout via social media. The bantamweight contender will make his professional debut with standout U.S. promotion Titan Fighting Championships on March 4 and the event will be available to view on UFC Fight Pass. A product of Combat-Do and fighting out of Cicero, Illinois, Torres accumulated an unprecedented 25-1 amateur record and was twice crowned The IMMAF World Bantamweight Champion at the 2014 and 2015 Amateur World Championships in Las Vegas. The reputation that Torres earned from his amateur exploits lead to him becoming the first 0-0 professional to sign with Titan FC. After securing his second gold medal at the 2015 IMMAF Championships with a highly impressive submission stoppage over silver medallist Nurtilek Konashov (fight video below), Torres was recruited to join Bahrain’s ground breaking KHK MMA fight team alongside UFC front runners Frankie Edgar and Khabib Nurmagomedov, in addition to IMMAF world featherweight champion Frans Mlambo. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lQS9tjpLMS4 Set to compete on the undercard of Titan FC 37, which features three title bouts between a number of the promotion’s leading prospects, Torres will face Jorge Dominguez at the Clark County Event Center in Ridgefield, Washington. Dominguez himself is an amateur veteran listed online with 9-4 record. The Colorado native fights out of American Top Team Altitude alongside the likes of Bobby Lashley, Alex Huddleston and Isidro Gonzalez. The anticipation for Torres’ Titan FC debut has grown continuously following the postponement of Titan FC 36 where he was first scheduled to appear on December 18, 2015. The event was unfortunately cancelled due to health complications that effected CEO Jeff Aronson. To join or experience a free trial of UFC Fight Pass visit www.ufc.tv/page/fightpass.
