Doncaster’s Warren Mason is lined up for his next amateur contest on April 2 at the Leeds Town Hall where he takes on SBG Manchester’s Abdul Choudhury (3-0). The news was first covered by AddictedOTR.com after the UK promotion, Almighty Fighting Championships, had announced the event. Mason steps into his 13th bout to date with a 7-5 record, and at 20 years of age appears to be finding his feet as one of Europe’s top 125lbs amateurs after claiming silver at the inaugural IMMAF European Open Championships last November. At the European Open Mason displayed confidence in his rounded abilities en route to the final. The flyweight progressed through the early rounds with his favoured submission game and a tight Brazilian Jiu Jitsu flow before outstriking Ireland’s David Forgarty, a known BJJ practitioner, to take a unanimous decision and advance to the final. Mason lost out on the gold in a compelling final bout that pitted him against UK teammate Jake Bond. Mason remains on the UK squad and can be expected to represent the team at IMMAF events this year. Choudhury himself has received recognition as an exciting up and comer in the UK, having trained with the likes of TUF 22 finalist Saul Rogers and BAMMA lightweight champion Martin Stapleton.  ]]>
