IMMAF world light-heavyweight champion Saeid Mirzaei (11-3) is in preparations for a final amateur bout in his home of Canada before turning his attention to his professional aspirations. The 6’2″ ‘Prince of Persia’ has tested the waters at multiple weights from lightweight to light-heavyweight. He most recently competed at 205lbs, in which category he claimed the gold medal at last year’s IMMAF World Amateur Championships as a member of the Canadian national team in Las Vegas. Mirzaei dominated with a trio of first round victories, culminating with a submission win via Kimura against Bulgaria’s Tencho Karaenev in the final on July 11. Karaenev also went on to earn silver three months later at the European Open in Walsall, England. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1TfYeQMHbwA Mirzaei’s final amateur bout will be under the banner of Battlefield Fight League in his home city of Vancouver on January 22.
