Jose Torres has unfortunately been put on hold. With an outstanding Amateur MMA record of 25-1, the two-time IMMAF World Championships of Amateur MMA gold medalist was expected to turn professional on December 18. Ahead of his pro debut, Torres joined Bahrain based fight team “KHK” alongside fellow IMMAF amateur standouts Frans Mlambo and James Gallagher, as well as UFC veterans Frankie Edgar and Khabib Nurmagomedov. As the world’s most decorated amateur veteran and funded by Sheikh Khalid Bin Hamad, Torres was set to make history as the first IMMAF fighter to make his professional debut with Titan FC, a leading feeder promotion to the UFC. Titan FC released a statement yesterday and explained, “the promotion was logistically not prepared to move forward with Titan FC 36”, scheduled to take place at the Scottish Rite Temple in Kansas City, due to unfortunate health complications that have effected CEO Jeff Aronson. Following the news, Torres released a positive statement through social media, and also spoke with IMMAF to explain his current situation. The 23-year-old bantamweight looks forward to being a fixture at Titan FC’s 2016 return, but in the meantime he is on the lookout for a last-minute fight elsewhere on December 18. “I am currently looking for a last minute local fight for December 18th,” Torres told IMMAF, “and if that doesn’t happen, then I will wait to see if I will be moved to the next Titan FC card or the card after that. I’m in shape, ready, and close to weight. Might as well try to get one fight in before the year is over.”
