United Kingdom Mixed Martial Arts Federation (UKMMAF) has confirmed the date of its next national level, “Judging in Mixed Martial Arts” certification course to take place in the UK. Experienced judge, Ben Cartlidge, will be leading the course, which will be a mix of analysis, a discussion of the unified rules and practical judging. There will be an exam at the end of the course, which, when passed, will lead to obtaining the appropriate level of judging licence. Cartlidge comments: “The UKMMAF ‘Judging in Mixed Martial Arts’ certification course represents a huge step forward for anyone who has in interest in our great sport. Good judges are the cornerstone of any credible, successful event and this course offers a fantastic progression for any level of experience.” The course syllabus will be of interest to coaches and competitors, as well as those who wish to pursue employment as a judge in the mixed martial arts field. The qualification is also a requirement for officials under UKMMAF licensing. British officials that worked at the recent 2015 IMMAF European Open Championships in the United Kingdom were UKMMAF licensed. A national level qualification in officiating, approved by an IMMAF member federation, is a requirement for those wishing to participate in any IMMAF international Amateur MMA officials certification course.
