http://www.immaf.org/2015-immaf-european-open-championships/ For two years running, the UK Team has medalled at the IMMAF World Championships of Amateur MMA in Las Vegas (USA). The recent 2015 World Championships saw the UK earn its first gold medal as Josh Ellis titled in the Men’s Lightweight division. Middleweight James Duckett earned silver, while Jake Constantinou scored bronze at Welterweight. Other UK contenders at this years’ World Championships were Amy Omara (Women’s Strawweight), Carl Burton (Men’s Bantamweight), Aidan James (Men’s Featherweight) and Steve Steward (Men’s Light Heavyweight). The IMMAF European Open permits two entrants per weight category for each national team, with a total cap of 32 entrants per division. This opens up additional places on the UK squad, besides the already vacant spots in the Men’s Heavy and Super Heavyweight and women’s categories. Competition categories run from Straweight to Featherweight for women, and Flyweight to Super Heavyweight for men. The Midlands based competition, which is sanctioned by the UKMMAF, will be the first IMMAF Championship to take place following the launch of the IMMAF Amateur MMA Rankings.
