'UKMMAF Judging in Mixed Martial Arts' Certification Course: New Date Announced

The United Kingdom Mixed Martial Arts Federation (UKMMAF) has announced the next date for its “UKMMAF Judging in Mixed Martial Arts” certification course for 6th September in Peterborough. The course will be held at Fightstar gym at 17 Saville Road, Peterborough PE3 7RP, commencing at 9am and finishing at 3pm. Successful completion of the one day course will earn participants a UKMMAF judge’s license that can make them eligible to judge at upcoming IMMAF and UKMMAF Amateur MMA competitions in the UK, depending on experience. It will also license them to judge on future UKMMAF sanctioned events when full sanctioning comes into play in the near future, based also on registered experience. Like the UKMMAF referees course, the judges’ course contains both theoretical and practical training, an examination and includes resource materials. Also included in the original price is one complimentary re-sit of the original examination. After the course finishes, participants will receive their result via email with a copy of their certificate for those who pass. Instructions will also be sent as to how to register for future professional development. The compilation of the course has been led by UFC judge and UKMMAF Regulatory Affairs Committee member, Ben Cartlidge, who will be teaching on 6th September. Ben Cartlidge said: “The UKMMAF Judging in Mixed Martial Arts course represents a quantum leap forward in further legitimizing Mixed Martial Arts in the UK with an assessment based progressional pathway. Some of the best officials in the country have worked together to produce this course with the sole intention of upskilling officials and gathering the requisite experience to advance professionally. “The course will not only test knowledge of the judging criteria and specific application but will also critically focus on their practical application. To get better at judging mixed martial arts, you need to judge more mixed martial arts and the progression through the tiered system will focus on both time served and fight quota. “This is the first of a number of huge steps made by the UKMMAF to take the sport in a more reputable and professional direction.” The inaugural one day judges’ course costs just £125 inclusive as a special offer to first participants.
