The contest follows a tournament format and competitors will be selected each day by draw to determine who they will face in the next rout over 5 days of competition.  With 8 weight classes for men (Flyweight – Heavyweight) and 4 for women (Strawweight – Featherweight), the international event follows IMMAF Rules of Amateur MMA in accordance with local legislation, overseen by UMMAF under the Nevada State Athletic Commission. The Championships event is held in partnership with local promoter, Tuff-N-Uff. IMMAF CEO, Densign White, said: “MMA was first born onto a professional platform spawning grassroots communities globally, and as a young sport has had some catching up to do. The support of the UFC to our movement, which was born from grassroots MMA community for the MMA community, is invaluable. All over the world volunteer groups are working hard to develop safe training pathways and competition ladders for recreational participants in the sport, as well as the stars of tomorrow. It has taken the forward thinkers in all our member countries to initiate the journey that will bring MMA into alignment with all recognized sports. Vegas has historically been a city that has seen dreams come to fruition and the Flamingo is a monument to this past. IMMAF is proud to have its athletes set foot to compete in such an arena, where everything is possible, before moving on into the aspirational UFC Fan Expo for the Finals.”   For additional information please visit UFC.com/fightweek, and follow UFC on Twitter @ufc.
