IMMAF ADMINISTRATION EXPANDED
(London, UK. March 17th 2015) Nyra Phillips has been appointed as the Championships Director for the 2015 IMMAF Championships of Amateur MMA at UFC® International Fight Week. In 2014 Ms. Phillips oversaw 23 countries from across 5 continents compete in Las Vegas (USA), in the first ever international Amateur MMA event to be held by a non-profit organisation in accordance with Olympic values. The tournament is set to return Las Vegas for its second year as part of the fourth UFC® International Fight Week. The fan experience is billed as the world’s largest mixed martial arts celebration, guaranteeing high-energy, all-star entertainment and concluding with a weekend of action-packed fights including UFC 189 on July 11. The IMMAF competition runs from July 6 to July 11. Hailing from New Zealand, Nyra Phillips, has been pivotal to the development of Mixed Martial Arts in her home country through MMA media and products platform, NZMMA.tv. The entrepreneur is a formative member and Vice President of the New Zealand Mixed Martial Arts Federation. She relocated to Las Vegas in order to work on the inaugural 2014 IMMAF World Championships of Amateur MMA. Ms. Phillips said of her reappointment: “I’m looking forward to welcoming back the IMMAF members to Las Vegas this year. Being the Championships Director of this event is particularly gratifying for me because it epitomises IMMAF’s vision of unifying MMA and giving its athletes world-class opportunities to compete against each other. “We have a great team working on this event. They’re very positive, very passionate about the sport. Our focus is to create a premier tournament. And also, an up-close-and-personal MMA experience for the fans who attend. Honoring the invaluable relationship between the athletes and audience is very important because it acknowledges how each helps the other grow.” The IMMAF has also recently expanded its London (UK) based administration under CEO Densign White, to include two new team members: Roberto Reid has been selected as IMMAF Member Relations Manager to oversee the development of member services, and to offer support both to existing member federations and new applicants. Roberto has a background in both public and private sector project management and administration; and went on to found media outlet, MMA Plus, which has involved him covering MMA and combat sports events the world over. Former Amateur MMA promoter, Alistair Pettitt, has been appointed to an internal position as IMMAF Championships and Events Manager. His responsibilities will include the management of team applications and IMMAF competition protocol at IMMAF headquarters.
