THURSDAY 26TH FEBRUARY 2015, CENTRAL LONDON INCLUDES PRESENTATION OF NEW FIGHTER MEDICAL PASSPORT SOFTWARE (London.10th January 2015) British medical advisory organisation, Safe MMA has announced its second Annual General Meeting for the evening of Thursday 26th February 2015 in Central London, UK. Safe MMA has informed the United Kingdom MMA Federation (UKMMAF) in its development and acts as its independent medical arm. Safe MMA representative, Dr. Maeve Rodgers, sits on the board of the UKMMAF alongside dual member, referee Marc Goddard. 2014 has been another successful year for Safe MMA with founding promotions BAMMA and Cage Warriors continuing under its auspices, and new UK promotions coming on board including Fight UK and AON MMA. Safe MMA Ireland has been developing at a pace with Battlezone among the latest promotions to join; and with a FREE “Injuries in MMA”seminar day hosted by Professor Healy and John Kavanagh coming to Dublin on 24th January. Requests to sign up to the project have also come in from other countries, with discussions in progress. In March 2014, an open Medical Professionals Focus Group saw the further development of the Safe MMA medical examinations and the introduction of standardised guideline suspension periods. Safe MMA continues as a democratic, community project open to expert advice and opinion for its growth, and the AGM marks the next occasion where issues can be publicly raised and developments voted on. AGENDA FOR THE SAFE MMA ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING: Items expected on the Safe MMA AGM agenda include, among other topics:
- a presentation of a new medical passport software that is in late stages of development
- the introduction of Safe MMA courses
- the issue of medical safety in Amateur MMA, as Safe MMA is currently active only in the professional divisions
