Mixed Martial Arts Federation Of Singapore Joins IMMAF

Singapore

IMMAF is pleased to announce the recent new membership of the Mixed Martial Arts Federation of Singapore (MMAFS). MMA is a growing sport in Singapore with Singaporeans, residents and expats taking up MMA for leisure purposes, as a sports career or for self-defence (especially women). Singapore has around 20 MMA gyms and in less than 4 years has risen to become a real power player on the Asian MMA scene, with live internationally broadcast events generating huge revenues. Established in 2013 by its President, Sheik Alau’ddin Yacoob Marican, the MMAFS is now the main governing body for the sport of MMA in Singapore, though it is not yet formally recognised. The main purpose of the MMAFS is to develop the sport of MMA for amateur participants, and the federation strives to develop relations with all mixed martial arts clubs in Singapore. MMA clubs have representation on the MMAFS committee, including Fight G, Vanda Boxing Club, Grasio MMA and BJJ Singapore. The MMAFS invests resources into youth development and works to cultivate MMA talent in the region. The organization of and participation in local and international competitions forms part of the organisation’s mandate. It is also responsible for regulating competition rules and regulations and developing sports safety protocol at both amateur and professional levels. Sanctioning and regulatory activities involve the education of MMA officials and the commissioning of events that include major regional player, ONE FC.
