Balkan MMA Championships, Oct 15-16

The third Balkan Amateur MMA Championships takes place later this month from October 15th – 16th, hosted by the Republic of Albania and the Albanian Free Fighting Federation (AFFF), in the nation’s capital city, Tirana. The international event takes place ahead of the 2016 IMMAF European Open Championships. Alongside IMMAF members representing fellow Balkan countries such as Bulgaria, Greece and Romania, the Albanian Free Fighting Federation has reached a level of prominence as an IMMAF affiliate which has seen the national body achieve government recognition from the Republic of Albania Ministry of Education and Sport. Cooperating as a collective, the Balkan nations nominated Albania as host of the regional amateur championships for 2016. The 2015 Balkan Championships took place in Turkey and featured 84 athletes from Albania, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Iran, and Turkey. The collective Balkan Federations will showcase the growth and development of MMA within region as a confirmed 150 athletes make their way to Tirana.
